International Student Services (ISS) is excited to welcome back more than 5,000 continuing international students to our Seattle campus. We hope that you had a wonderful summer break and are ready to begin another academic year at UW. Please remember that ISS is here to help you on all things related to your immigration status.
What do I need to re-enter the U.S.?
To re-enter the U.S., we recommend you bring the following documents:
- Passport
- Visa
- I-20 with valid travel signature
- Copy of your class schedule
Is my travel signature valid?
Travel signatures are valid for 1 year from the date of issuance. Please check Page 2 of your I-20 to determine whether your travel signature will be valid at the time you re-enter the U.S. You can find your most recently issued I-20 in your MyISSS portal under the “Requests and Documents” tab.
How can I get a new travel signature?
If you need a new travel signature, you can request one through your MyISSS portal.
What if I experience issues when trying to re-enter?
If CBP has questions about your immigration status, they will usually directly contact ISS to resolve the situation. Problems are not common, but you can prevent this by preparing ahead of time.
