The holiday season has begun, and many of you have made plans to travel internationally over the next month or so. Here are some quick tips to ensure you have no problems returning to the U.S..
Tip 1: Check your I-20
When will your I-20 expire? If your I-20 is expiring at the end of the Autumn 2023 quarter and you need additional time to complete your studies, you must apply for an I-20 Extension before it’s expiration. You can apply through your MyISSS portal.
Tip 2: Get a valid travel signature
Travel signatures are valid for 1 year from the date of issuance. Please check Page 2 of your I-20 to determine whether your travel signature will be valid at the time you re-enter the U.S. If you need a new one, you can
- Request one in your MyISSS portal
- Attend a Travel Signature Clinic on Dec. 7th (see details) or Dec. 11th (see details)
Tip 3: Collect necessary documents
To re-enter the U.S., you should have the following documents with you:
- Passport
- Visa
- I-20 with valid travel signature
- Winter 2024 course schedule (recommended)
